Vision Statement

East Lansing Public Schools strives to provide every student with exemplary instruction in equitable learning environments designed to educate the whole child. In partnership with the community, ELPS endeavors to affirm cultural differences and nurture intellectual curiosity, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and effective communication so every student graduates to become a productive member of society.

Teaching and Learning Goals
 

  • Goal 1. Challenging and engaging curriculum that provides extraordinary learning experiences (cross content, thoughtful inquiry, students operate on the cusp of their ability, conceptual depth)
  • Goal 2. An inspirational teaching staff (professional training, ability to engage students, embraces change, pedagogy that inspires students)
  • Goal 3. All students achieving at their maximum potential (refers to all supports)
  • Goal 4. A learning culture that encourages adaptive thinking that is responsive to change (students and teachers are critical problem solvers, operating at the analysis /synthesis/ evaluative level)
  • Goal 5. Enhance student learning by supporting efforts to meet basic needs
