It is the vision of the East Lansing Public Schools (ELPS) to strive to provide every student with exemplary instruction in equitable learning environments designed to educate the whole child. In partnership with the community, ELPS endeavors to affirm cultural differences and nurture intellectual curiosity, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and effective communication so every student graduates to become a productive member of society.
It is the mission of ELPS to nurture each child, educate all students and build world citizens.
Points of Pride
The East Lansing Public Schools (ELPS) include five elementary schools, one middle school and one high school.
Approximately 3,500 students are currently enrolled and the student-teacher ratio is 21:1
- East Lansing High School is recognized as a Silver Medal school by U.S. News & World Report and is ranked 17th in the state. Every year, a number of ELHS students are recognized as National Merit Scholar finalists.
- A total of 64 countries and 70 languages are represented at ELPS. As a result, students are offered a culturally rich educational experience.
- ELPS offers all levels of athletic competition, including 26 varsity sports. The trojans annually compete for conference and state championships.
- ELPS also offers band, orchestra, theater, art, choir, world languages and a variety of clubs.
